Microsoft has announced a new Starbucks add-in for Outlook, which was first introduced during the Build 2016 developer conference in March.
Partnership of Starbucks and Microsoft capitalizes with an Outlook add-in that lets users easily send those ubiquitous gift cards to one another in an email. Users have to install the add-in, then connect to a Starbucks account, which they also need. After that, they can pull up a sidebar that makes it easy to add a gift card to future emails.

“In this fast paced, hyper-connected world, where meetings are often conducted remotely or in a formal office setting, we sometimes lose a personal connection which is so important in building a great business relationship. Outlook now makes it easier for you to have that personal connection by enabling you to meet your customers, business partners or study group at your favorite Starbucks location, all with a few clicks from your Outlook inbox,” says The Outlook Team.
This is as an example of how third parties could integrate with Microsoft Office as a developer platform. They are both natural partners and based in the Seattle area (Microsoft even serves Starbucks at its cafeterias.). The new feature is meant to help people build relationships through more informal interactions.
The Starbucks add-on is available for Outlook.com, Outlook 2013 and 2016, and Outlook on the web users who are using Exchange 2013, Exchange 2016, or Office 365. The add-on can be downloaded for free from the Office Store.
However, it is not yet available in Outlook for Mac or Outlook Mobile but Microsoft is working on it, and it should be available in a few months.
