The host, which clinched the preceding Test series against Sri Lanka by winning 2-0, will be aiming to carry their winning momentum into the short format of cricket. English all rounder David Willey, however, warned that his side would not take Sri Lanka lightly, despite their 2-0 win in the Test series.
"England played very well in the Tests, but Sri Lanka are still a very decent one-day outfit on their day, so we can't take them lightly," Willey noted. "They have plenty of players who can do some damage in their side, so we still need to perform well."
Angelo Mathews and his boys won a recently concluded ODI series against Ireland. The Sri Lankan skipper, however, insisted that his side need to be at its best to beat England in this ODI series.
"We still can improve a lot in all departments. It was a pretty convincing victory today, but we need to be at our best to beat England," Mathews said.
