Quantico star Priyanka Chopra's underarm made it to the headlines after the beauty queen-turned-actress shared the cover image of her Maxim India gig on Instagram.

The magazine named the former Miss World as "The Hottest Woman in the World." In the cover image, however, many noticed how her underarms looked perfectly smooth that the "usual folds and bends of a normal underarm area" was missing, reported People.

The heavily edited photo of Priyanka Chopra did not sit well with some followers.

"Don't think you need to be photoshopped," said one Instagram user. "You should speak out against this...need to send positive messages to our girls."

"Very photoshopped," another commented. "Shame on inspiring (the) world (sic)."

Another seemed to be taking a jab at the photo saying, "She has the most amazing armpits."

Nevertheless, many followers also lauded how beautiful Priyanka Chopra looked in her Maxim cover.

"Gorgeous babe," said one. "Looking hot in every style."

"Really very stunning," commented another. Priyanka Chopra's Instagram post showing her cover has since generated 180,000 likes with over 2, 500 comments.

The underarm controversy has since been dubbed "Armpit Gate," according to the New York Daily News. While many other photoshoots have been slammed for slimming down stars or editing beyond recognition, Maxim's Priyanka Chopra faux pas has been one of a kind.

The buzz over the Quantico actress' "impossibly smooth" underarm has also been a hot topic on Twitter.

Maxim India, on the other hand, shared other images taken during the photoshoot with the 33-year-old star. Unlike the cover, Priyanka Chopra's underarms looked unedited in the said pictures.
