The rally of Trump took place at the Treasure Island Casino and Sandford reportedly approached a Las Vegas police officer saying that he wanted to get an autograph from the real estate mogul. However, Sandfrod grabbed the handle of an officer's gun in an attempt to remove it resulting to his arrest.
Sandford reportedly told investigators that if he failed in his Las Vegas plot, he will be booking tickets for a Trump rally in Phoenix and that is where he would try to kill the New York businessman again. He noted that he has been planning to kill Trump for a year now but decided he would act on certain occasions as he was confident that his plan would be carried out successfully.
The 19-year-old also said that if he would be released and be in the streets again, he would be out to kill Trump.
He had a United Kingdom driver's license with him and Sandford revealed that he has been in the United States for a year and a half and has been living in Hoboken, New Jersey. He arrived in Las Vegas on June 16. The day before being at the rally of Trump, he said that he went to the Battlefield Vegas shooting range and fired 20 rounds from a 9mm Glock pistol to learn how to use it. He has been in the country illegally as his visa has expired.
No other details about his next court appearance have been given out. Trump and his team has not released any statement regarding the matter.
