Huawei MateBook tp hit the Market on July 11; Pricing Starts at $699

Chinese tech company Huawei first unveiled the MateBook at the 2016 Mobile World Congress in February. On Monday, Huawei finally announced that the MateBook will be available for purchase starting July 11. 

The Huawei MateBook is the company's first dip into the Windows 2-in-1 computer market. The device will compete with industry heavyweights like the Microsoft Surface and Apple iPads. Huawei said that the $699 price tag would be for the entry level MateBook while variations in specs will also mean difference in pricing.

The Huawei MateBook sports a 12-inch 10-finger multi-touch IPS display which supports 2160 x 1440 resolution. Interested buyers can choose from three different chip variants all from Intel: the m3, m5, or m7. It is also available in three storage options: 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB, all of which are SSD models.

The MateBook has an integrated fingerprint scanner located on the side of the device. It supports USB Type-C port both for charging and transfer of data. Huawei promises that the 4,420mAh battery pack is enough to power the device for up to nine hours on a single charge. It also has a 5-megapixel front facing camera.

The $699 Huawei MateBook model sports an Intel Core m3 processor with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. The highest priced model costs $1,599, and it has an Intel Core m7 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage space.

Like the Microsoft Surface and Apple iPads, the Huawei MateBook also supports a handful of peripheral devices which are sold separately. There is the external physical keyboard which costs $129. The $59 Huawei MatePen has an integrated laser pointer. There is also the $89 MateDock, which adds two more USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, a VGA port, and an Ethernet port.
