Xiaomi's Smartphone Targets Indonesian Market

Xiaomi's invaded Indonesia and intends to exclusively market its electronic devices through local e-commerce website, Lazada.
The privately owned Chinese electronics company headquartered in Beijing recently launched its Redmi 1S phones in Indonesia. The phone sold out in just seven minutes.

The limited Redmi 1S phones stocks were sold on Lazada and demand was such Lazada's website eventually crashed.
Magnus Ekbom, CEO of Lazada Indonesia, said the phones would have been sold out sooner if not for the website crash.
Now, Xiaomi has released its Hongmi smartphone for US$130 or IDR1.5 million.
Xiaomi Hongmi runs Android 4.2 and its CPU is quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A7. It also features 1 GB of RAM and has 4 GB file storage.
The phone storage is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD. The 4.7-inch screen (720p) is an IPS LCD mode with an 8-megapixel camera.
The company also launched 17 service centers in Indonesia to support post-sales services for Hongmi.
Lin Bin, co-founder and president of Xiaomi, said the company is eyeing 73 million users in Indonesia.
To boost its sales, Xiaomi is going to implement promotional campaigns using social media sites.
Xiaomi has started a sales booking channel for Hongmi. It hasn't yet stated its sales goal for the Indonesian market.
