(Photo : YouTube Screenshot) India's Flipkart is looking to source bulk products from China at a cheaper rate.
E-commerce company Flipkart has set its eyes on China to procure bulk products at lower prices to offer a wider range of items on its platform.
The India-based company recently teamed up with Chinese bulk sellers, through which Flipkart sellers can source products. The partnership will allow Flipkart sellers to get directly in touch with Chinese bulk suppliers and secure goods en-mass at a much lower price. Flipkart is tapping into China to acquire electronics, apparel, and household items.

"We have always focused on providing the most affordable rates to sellers and buyers," Anil Goteti, Flipkart's marketplace head, said. "While we have already launched several seller-friendly services, the aim of the latest project is to make sure they can import large numbers of products at one go and at attractive prices."
Goteti refused to name Flipkart's Chinese partners.
Even if the current program is limited to a few sellers, Goteti said the results have been encouraging so far. Recently, the company, with more than 85,000 sellers, faced a protest after it asked its sellers to increase its commission per transaction and made it an obligation for sellers to refund the payment for products that are returned.
While Flipkart is demanding an increase in its commission rate, rival company Amazon has reduced its. Amazon has also announced an added $3 billion investment in its platform, putting tremendous pressure on Flipkart.
