Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin arrived at a federal prison in Texarkana, Texas, on Monday to report for the start of serving his 10-year sentence.
Nagin arrived with his wife, Seletha, sons Jarin and Jeremy and his teenage daughter, minutes before his noon deadline.
Television stations across New Orleans showed Nagin in the parking lot of the federal prison, hugging his family before getting locked-up.

A prison guard accompanied Nagin as he stepped into the guard house.
As his family walked back to the parking lot, Nagin could be seen raising his hands as the guard inspected him using a metal detector.
Nagin was convicted in February on 20 counts, which included conspiracy, bribery and money laundering during the time when he served as New Orleans' mayor.
Before his February conviction, the Monitor reported that during the nine-day trial, the prosecutors subpoenaed several co-conspirators in the schemes that Nagin planned.
Additionally, prosecutors also presented to the members of the jury pieces of evidence that further implicated Nagin, such as business contracts, financial statements and email correspondence, which proved Nagin used his position to make money.
The former mayor received a conviction on four counts of filing false tax returns, five counts of bribery, one count of money laundering conspiracy, nine counts of wire fraud and one overarching count of conspiracy.
A public attorney took on Nagin's case after the former mayor failed to pay his previous attorney, Robert Jenkins.
The appointment of a public defender was approved by a U.S. district judge after Nagin revealed he only has US$23.26 in the bank.
According to the Bureau of Prisons, the former mayor is now inmate No. 32751-034.
