Chinese-led Zeavion to Acquire Gymboree Corporation's Early Childhood Education Business

(Photo : Getty Images.) Chinese-led Zeavion Company is all set to acquire the early childhood development business of Gymboree Corporation for approximately $127.5 million.
The Chinese-led Zeavion Company, which focuses on early Child education business, has agreed to buy the early childhood development business of Gymboree Corporation for approximately $127.5 million. Gymboree Corporation is based in San Francisco and has a strong presence in the childrens apparel and childhood education business.

After completing the deal, Zeavion will take over the ownership of global early childhood development business under the brand name of Gymboree Play and Music. This includes central operations and centers in North America. The entire transaction is expected to be complete by mid-July.
Mark Breitbard, CEO of Gymboree, said his firm is excited about Zeavion's plan and commitment to grow its Play and Music brand across the world. Gymboree Play and Music was founded in 1976 with an aim to offer special education programs for children upto five years old. Gymboree owns over 700 franchises across several countries, according to a statement by the company.
Jack Shi, founder of Zeavion Company, said that he truly believes in the power of education and its positive impact on human life, adding that Play and Music has contributed something really special in this direction.
The Gymboree deal is the latest in slew of acquisition deals led by Chinese companies to acquire American-based companies. Last year, it is estimated that Chinese companies spent over $15 billion to acquire various American companies across the sector.
According to a recent report by the National Committee on US-China Relations, early investment trajectory suggest that 2016 could prove to be another record breaking year for Chinese investment in America.
