Adidas said to have partnered with the local government to train Chinese kids in the sport and aims to develop up to 20 million children with its projects and programs.

Aside from that, the German company also joined with Chinese consortium Wanda Group to support football and basketball in the country as they seek to "capitalize on increasing interest in sports and fitness in the world's most populous nation," the report said.

One of the earliest projects of the two companies is said to be the two Ironman triathlon events scheduled to take place in China this year.

Meanwhile, after appearing in the short inauguration program of the Adidas store, the 41-year-old retired footballer visited Zhixin High School near the area and to time out to share his skills with the school's small pupils.

Beckham said to have provided the kids a priceless experience with him, leading them in drills and interacting with them as well. Daily Mail Online noted that the kids' "faces lit up with the opportunity to share the pitch with an international professional".

His crew also provided the children brand new black and white Adidas kits, as per the report, as he wore an all-black apparel of his own that has a large company logo in front.

"It's good to be back in Hong Kong - I get a lot of inspiration from people here," Beckham told reporters in an interview.

"I've been coming to Asia for the past 25 years, have a huge fan base here and now with my business career I can say I understand the Hong Kong market and what people like to wear," he added.
