The maker of Mac computers and iDevices, though their influence slowed, was still the largest supplier of tablet in China, its key growth engine.
The leading technology company, Apple, was able to sell 1.48 million iPads in the April - June quarter, up by 28 percent compared to last year's revenue but profit of brought in by the sales of Galaxy tablets produced by Samsung Electronics Co. Increased by 400 percent to 571,000 units. Samsung accounted an 11 percent tablet market share from last time's six percent.
Earlier this year, Samsung, the world's largest Smartphone maker stated in an interview with Miami Herald that it targets to double its annual sales of tablet computers, in hope to close the gap with Apple.
Lenovo of China and ASUS and Acer of Taiwan also had their fair share of surge in the market share. These companies, as claimed by Chang, profited from offering less-pricey tablet computers and consumer expertise with the Android operating system that is used in many Smartphone models.
Chang stated in an e-mail to Miami Herald that if Apple, Inc. marks down prices or earlier generations of their products like it did with their phones, more consumers would be encouraged to avail Apple's iPad.
As sales of Smartphone gadgets and tablet computers dawdle in developed countries, China is a major market for consumer technology companies.
Last January, Tim Cook, Apple's CEO told an official in Xinhua News Agency that China will become the company's biggest target for sales.
