Earlier in July, Tesla Model S was available for in-person customer demonstrations and test-drives in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is the first location in Asia where customers can drive on public roads. Tesla Model S reservations can be made via Tesla's Hong Kong website or in-person by appointment. In less than one month, Tesla has received over 300 orders for its new Model S sedan.
Kenneth Lui, Hong Kong sales manager for Tesla, disclosed in an interview: "Our number is over all electric cars in Hong Kong combined." It is known Hong Kong had 303 registered private electric cars by the end of April.
So far, Tesla has three showrooms in Asia. One is located in the cyberport of Hong Kong, and the other two are located in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. The fourth showroom is still being built in Beijing.
Tesla's CEO Elon Musk is quite confidence to take on the world's largest auto market. Once Elon Musk said China was a kind of a wild card.
Tesla Model S is a full-sized electric four-door hatchback sports sedan produced by Tesla Motors. First shown to the public at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show as a prototype, retail deliveries started in the United States in June 2012. The Model S was released in Europe in early August 2013, and the first deliveries took place in Norway, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
