Streaking clubs Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao FC (12-1-3, 39 points) and Chongqing Lifan FC (4-6-6, 18 points) are scheduled to clash at the Tianhe Stadium on July 10, Sunday as the 2016 Chinese Super League moves into the second half of the season.

Guangzhou will look for some retribution from their 1-2 opening day loss to Chongqing on the road four months ago as they now host Lifan in their second meeting of the current China top flight season.

The five-straight CSL champions continue to top the league standings at the moment as they are seven points adrift of second-running team Jiangsu Suning.

Head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari's side thrashed struggling perennial powerhouse Shandong Luneng Taishan FC, 2-0, at the Jinan Olympic Sports Center Stadium last Sunday to extend their winning run to two games, Xinhuanet reported.

Brazilian forward Alan Carvalho netted the opening goal of the contest at the 33rd minute from a pass by local striker Gao Lin before another Brazilian, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho, scored the team's second goal at the 51st minute in the second half.

Meanwhile, Chongqing Lifan also won their second consecutive CSL match by beating middling squad Tianjin Teda F, 3-2, at the Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium also last Sunday, via Soccerway.

The Tianjin Tigers scored the first two goals of the match, courtesy of vice-captain Zhou Haibin and Colombian forward Fredy Montero at the second and 15th minutes respectively, to put the hosts on top early.

However, Chongqing was able to pull off a three-goal run after the restart, beginning with a goal from Argentine striker Emanuel Gigliotti right at the hour mark and then followed by local winger Xu Yang and Brazilian forward Jael Ferreira at the 67th and 79th minutes to snatch the game and the three points away from the hosts.

The predicted result is a 2-0 romp for Guangzhou Evergrande.
