Rio Games: Dominant China Looking for First Olympic Sweep of Diving Gold

The Chinese national diving team will be trying to give the country its first gold-medal sweep in the sport at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
China has been dominating the sports and has come close before to taking home all of the eight Olympic gold medals in the event.

China bagged all four gold medals in the women's events in London, where its only misses were in the 3-meter and 10-meter of the men's event. American David Boudia, who will be returning to defend his diving title in Rio, upset Qui Bo in a thrilling platform the final and Ilya Zakharov of Russia won the springboard over Chinese teammates He Chong and Qin Kai, according to Associated Press.
The men's and women's national diving team of China won all of the eight featured events at the 2011 World Championships that was held in Shanghai. The Chinese divers claimed the top prize in the 3m springboard, synchronized 3m springboard, 10m platform, and synchronized 10m platform for the first time.
In the recent four-meet FINA Diving World Series this year, the Chinese claimed 38 of the 40 gold medals, NBC Olympics reported. China failed to win all the events as Cao Yuan, and Qin Kai did not compete in the fourth stop of the series that was staged in Kazan, Russia.
The diving competitions at the 2016 Rio Games are scheduled to take place from August 7 to 20 at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Center in Barra da Tijuca. It will be one of four aquatic sports at the prestigious quadrennial sporting event, along with water polo, swimming, and synchronized swimming.
