The iPod classic is now gone from the Apple Store.

Apple's last touchscreen-less music player that was first unveiled in 2007 is no longer in the online Apple Store or in the iPod section of its website.

There has been no formal announcement from Apple. The company quietly removed the iPod Classic from its newly-revamped online store, limiting its offers to iPod touch, Nano and Shuffle.

The original iPod music player, the first generation iPod Classic, came out in October 2001. Over the years, it stayed as one of the Apple's core products.

The Apple iPod Classic offers a solid design with an easy-to-use interface and 160 GB of internal storage on a spinning hard drive.

According to some reports, the device has not been updated since 2008.

Unit sales of the iPod as a whole, including the iPod touch, have declined. It started in mid-2009 and the total unit sales has continued to fallever since.

Now, as Apple offers the Apple Watch and the iPhone 6 with 128 GB solid-state storage options, the iPod classic has become obsolete as a product.

Since Apple discontinued the iPod classic, the company's iPod line is now limited to  the 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB iPod touch models, the 16 GB iPod Nano and the 2 GB iPod Shuffle.
