(Photo : Reuters) China has already created the world's fastest super computer using domestically manufactured microchips, but the country is still stacking up on more technologies.
ARM Holdings has announced that Chinese company Huaxintong Semiconductor Technology has licensed its ARMv8-A architecture.
Huaxintong Semiconductor Technology is a joint venture between a subsidiary of Qualcomm and China's Guizhou province. The license will allow the Chinese company to manufacture ARM-based chipsets that are used in servers for data centers.

Located in the mountainous southwest part of China, Guizhou is slowly turning itself into a dominant location for big data hubs. The province is home to at least 2.5 million servers, some of which are used by some of China's biggest telecom companies, according to Computer World.
It is still unclear whether the server chipsets manufactured by Huaxintong would be based on Qualcomm's technology. While Huaxintong acquired the license for Qualcomm's technology and intellectual property, the company can still design custom microchips.
Aside from ARM, some Chinese companies are also getting their hands on other chip technologies and architectures. For instance, Suzhou PowerCore Technology is manufacturing computer chips based on Power architecture. Additionally, AMD is also licensing its server chip technology to Tianjin Haiguang Advanced Technology Investment which is a joint venture between a consortium of Chinese companies and AMD.
Global demand for data center equipment continues to rise, and Chinese companies are cashing in. Tech giants like Tencent and Baidu are now building data center infrastructure, according to PC World.
