China needs to ramp up the implementation of its pollution control measures in order to address the growing health concerns confronting the nation.
This, after recent reports have highlighted the alarming increase in the number of health-related cases that have been attributed to the country's pollution problem, the China Daily reported.

In April, hundreds of students at a high school in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, were found to have "abnormal" blood readings after moving to a new campus whose site was said to be previously occupied by a chemical plant.
Residents in rural towns and villages also experienced higher-than-average cancer rates, which have been mainly attributed to air, water or soil pollution caused by industrial activities.
International organizations have also stressed the urgency of strengthening China's pollution control measures.
In May, the United Nations Environment Program and the World Health Organization released a report which revealed that 12.6 million deaths worldwide in 2012 were linked to deteriorating environmental conditions in 2012, leading to 23 percent of all deaths.
The report further revealed that air pollution has killed 7 million people a year, with about 654,000 people dying from lead poisoning in 2010, it said.
Moreover, environmental degradation and pollution are also responsible for more than one-fourth of all deaths in children under five, the report added
In response to the need to protect public health, the Central government has included several stipulations in the revised Environmental Protection Law, which took effect on Jan 1, 2015.
These included the need to improve monitoring of the environment and public health, improve the risk-assessment system, and encourage more research on the effects of environmental degradation on humans, which are all geared towards enhancing China's pollution control measures.
