Lu Han and EXO’s Lay Slammed for Supporting China Following UN’s Decision Over West Philippine Sea

Former EXO member Lu Han and current member Lay have come under backlash after expressing reaction on social media about the recent arbitration ruling on the case between China and the Philippines regarding the dispute over the South China Sea, Yibada reported.

Many Chinese celebrities, including Meng Jia and Fei of Miss A, and Victoria Song of f(x), have voiced out their support for China after the United Nations' court decided to rule in favor of the Philippines. Many Chinese celebrities have voiced out dissatisfaction over the decision and posted messages using a hashtag which translates to "China cannot become any smaller," according to IBT.
Lu Han and EXO's Lay were among the artists who expressed their opinions online. Lu posted a photo on Weibo of the West Philippine Sea and captioned it, "China - can't be less, not even one bit." On the other hand, Lay also posted a similar message on his Instagram.
Lu took the post down after being criticized by fans his from the Philippines.
Koreaboo noted that Lay also received criticism from Vietnamese and Korean fans. Sources state that Korean fans were disappointed at the idol for posting such a message about the dispute, which also affects South Korea's territory, particularly an island called Ieodo.
Despite the backlash, some noted that Lu Han has the right to support his country.
In related news, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu's Twitter account is said to have been put on hold by authorities after she posted a message asking for peace between China and the Philippines.
