The actress' mother was her greatest influence in her passion for aromatherapy as her business was selling products related to it. Since then, Mandy has taken interest in learning about the variety of scents and their benefits to the mind and body.
However, she has also shared that she had quite a dangerous experience handling aromatherapy products. The actress said that she accidentally burned her hair while she was trying to light a scented herb.
The experience happened while she was playing with her cousins. They were supposed to light lanterns during the mid-autumn festival. Since her hair was long then, she didn't realize that it caught on fire as she was fooling around with her cousin.
"Good thing my family saw it and immediately helped to put it out. I was so scared and all I could do was cry. From then on, I became very afraid of fire!" Mandy said.
However, despite that experience, Mandy Wong continued to learn about fragrances. After graduating from the university, she had the opportunity to learn more and collect fragrances while she was travelling to many places on her job as a stewardess.
She said that she collected so many that she chose to give them as gifts to her friends whenever there were occasions.
As to her favorite scented candles, the actress shared that she liked the layers ones with three different scents. These candles usually burn out emitting different scents.
She said the candles were available in Hong Kong but were always out of stock so she resorted to making her friend buy some for her in Australia.
Who knows? Mandy Wong might soon open an aromatherapy shop.
