China has fired three officials for poor disaster management to cope with super Typhoon Nepartak, which killed dozens of people and caused severe economic losses in east China's Fujian province last week.

Xinhua reported that two more junior officials have been sacked for their poor disaster management and poor response to the typhoon. The names of these two junior officials are still not known.

The typhoon severely affected electricity supply and telephone communication in as many as 11 towns in Fujian province. Chinese authorities are speeding up the rehabilitation work. According to Reuters, the Chinese government has allotted 170 million Yuan in compensation package to typhoon-affected areas.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Nepartak has been equally destructive in neighboring Taiwan, where local media reports are claiming that nearly 69 people have been killed and nearly 8,300 homes destroyed.

Typhoons are very common in China and Taiwan during this time of the year, rising from South China Sea waters and steadily dissipating over land. Apart from the onslaught of the Typhoon, China has already witnessing worst flood in recent years that has killed about 230 people and misplacing hundreds of people. The flood has been caused by incessant rainfall along the Yangtze River.
