Iconic Chinese actor Chow Yun-fat has said that he would be taking a break from acting for the remainder of 2016 so that he can enjoy a long winter break and "have fun," JayneStars.com reports.

The acclaimed actor announced his temporary retirement during a press conference in Hong Kong.

Chow Yun-fat made his comeback in the Hong Kong show business in 2013 after spending three decades of making movies in Mainland China and Hollywood.

In 2014, he appeared in the comedy film "From Vegas to Macau" produced by Wong Jing.  The movie was a huge success, and got two sequels. Since then, the actor has been busy making movies in Hong Kong. His latest film, the crime thriller "Cold War 2,"  smashed box-office records in Hong Kong after its release two weeks ago. The movie, an installment of the 2012 blockbuster hit, stole the crown from Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu Hustle" as the top-grossing Hong Kong film in a single day.

But Chow Yun-Fat is the kind of actor who knows when to work and when to rest. He clarified, however, that he is taking a break not because "I don't want to do it," but because he wants to be "healthier" and more prepared for more projects next year. He said that he also wants to spend the "remaining months traveling around Hong Kong!"

Despite his very successful career as an actor, Chow Yun-fat has remained modest in his lifestyle. Nevertheless, his busy pace of work schedule has seldom permitted him to unwind and enjoy life.

"Hong Kong actually looks very beautiful during the fall and winter times!" he said, comparing Hong Kong's orange leaves to Japan's red leaves. "Hong Kong's country parks are all within the city."

Chow Yun-Fat also emphasized on the need to remain healthy.

He even likened the state of one's health to borrowing something.

"If you borrow something, you must return it. That's why we have to be very careful with our health," he emphasized.

"I exercise everyday-it's not much, just walk for half an hour, jog for half an hour. Do some muscle training. I don't want to walk with crutches in the future!" he said.
