A Hong Kong-based developer recently released its first set of homegrown virtual reality games. But, chances are, those who are interested in acquiring a copy cannot purchase them at the moment.
Meridian Digital Entertainment is the Hong Kong-based developer and has released two virtual reality titles, Sky-Walker and Treasure Diving. However, instead of releasing it on the market for consumers to purchase, Meridian Digital Entertainment director Victor Dao decided to team up with mtrMall's PopCorn in hopes of delivering the games to a much wider audience.

In a statement acquired by South China Morning Post, Dao said, "Virtual reality is still not trendy yet, and it's expensive technology. Not many people will have this technology at home. So we want to start with business-to-business model to first raise public awareness about virtual reality technology."
One of the titles, Treasure Diving, is a first-person game where users are rendered in an underwater environment, and they need to navigate through it by turning their heads in the direction they want to swim to. The objective of the game is to collect as many jewels as possible to get the highest score.
The other game is called Sky-Walker. Unlike the previous game which can be played while sitting down, Sky-Walker is a more interactive game which requires users to walk around the rendered digital environment. The game uses an HTC Vive virtual reality helmet and a hand-held control, which can be used as a gun.
Dao said that it is currently working exclusively with other businesses to create virtual reality contents. However, he added that his firm would start releasing games to consumers next year once the price of virtual reality headsets starts to drop.
