Several complaints have been filed against the Chinese tech giant Baidu alleging that the company is inappropriately sending out gambling site promotions during late hours of the day. Baidu has responded to the allegations saying that its platform did not violate any rules and that the gambling sites are the ones that have violated relevant laws about illegal marketing.

The Chinese search engine giant added that it has presented its case to the authorities and is now in the process of collecting evidence that will support its claim should an investigation will be launched.
In a statement acquired by Sixth Tone, Baidu wrote, "Gambling is a serious offense and Baidu strongly prohibits gambling businesses from advertising."
Baidu supported its claiming by stating that these illegal gambling services were able to use its advertising platform through third-party advertising agents. The company added that these identity thefts simply look for a legitimate company that has not yet registered on Baidu and then fake their business licenses by using photo-editing software.
Baidu is encouraging netizens and media outlets to help it find the culprit.
This is not the first time Baidu's advertising platform has been in hot waters, according to China.org. In April, the Chinese government imposed heavy regulation in terms of advertising after a 21-year-old college student died after following a cancer treatment advice found on Baidu.
