"Sons of Anarchy" actor Chris Hunnam recently shared why he decided to pass on the titular role of Christian Grey in the anticipated flick "Fifty Shades of Grey".
Aside from saying that he was very dedicated to his show and that scheduling conflicts prevented him from being part of it, he said that the main reason was he had a "nervous breakdown" over having the main role.

The 34-year-old actor shared that he really did want to be part of the movie and, that he wouldn't have signed on if he didn't fall in love with it.
Hunnam shared that he had a really good meeting with the film's director, Sam Taylor-Johnson and they had the same creative vision. "We started talking about this thing and I just felt so excited. I fell in love with the character and started seeing him and becoming intoxicated," he explained.
However, he shared that he was already committed to star in Guillermo del Toro's "Crimson Peak," a promise he had already made before the erotic film adaptation.
Hunnam was also filming the last season of "Sons of Anarchy," sharing,"I was going to finish [filming] 'Sons' at like 11 P.M. Friday night, get on the plane Saturday morning to Vancouver for 'Fifty', missing the whole first week of rehearsal and start shooting Monday morning. And I was going to shoot that film, wrap that on the Wednesday and the following Monday I was going to start shooting 'Crimson Peak' in Toronto."
Eventually, he said that the pressure and the schedule were just too much. He felt that he wouldn't be able to deliver the best he could. "I really didn't want to fail on such a grand scale, and I just couldn't transition from Jax Teller to Christian Grey in 48 hours. It's painful because I loved the character and I wanted to do it. I'm also a man of my word," he shared.
Hunnam was replaced by Jamie Dornan for the role of Christian Grey.
