The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed to the public. However, Midea Group and Huawei will work together in developing smart home appliances and devices, as well as expanding their Internet of Things platforms.

Midea has long been involved in the smart appliances industry. In 2014, the company signed a partnership with Chinese smartphone tech manufacturer Xiaomi to develop smart home products, according to Forbes. However, through the years, Huawei has surpassed Xiaomi in terms of market share on the domestic front.

According to China Tech News, the newly formed partnership will take advantage of Huawei's strong connectivity services and valuable experience in the smart devices market. Midea's experience in the home appliance market will also come to play in the agreement. The two companies aim to develop a platform that will usher in a new era of smart home technology in China.

Midea Group chairman Fang Hongbo said that the important aspect of the company's strategy is to focus on smart home development and improvements. Through its partnership with Huawei, Midea Group aims to provide a better smart home experience for Chinese consumers.

Aside from smart home devices, Huawei and Midea Group also said that they would develop microchips that will have application in the Internet of Things platform. The companies also plan to develop operating systems, security protocols, and data sharing platforms.
