A manufacturer of a magnetic levitation train system from the US might soon be able to bring its technology to China once it is able to hook up with potential Chinese partners.
Jerry Sanders, CEO of skyTran Inc, maker of a levitation track system based in Mountain View, California, is eager to set up the company's railway system in China as part of its efforts to help improve the personal transport infrastructure in the mainland.

skyTran is situated within he NASA Ames Research Center and is a National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) Space Act company.
The tech company has a cooperative technology development agreement with NASA, and describes its product as a "patented, high-speed, low-cost, elevated personal rapid transportation system".
According to Sanders, his company has identified China as among the primary market for its skyTran magnetic levitation train system that uses a relatively inexpensive elevated track.
The system utilizes a network of "small computer-controlled, two-person 'jet-like' vehicles to move passengers in a fast, safe, green and economical manner."
The skyTran idea was conceptualized by a colleague of Sanders who worked on the NASA Apollo program which then aimed to transport the first man to the moon.
"He realized that for transportation to be effective, it has to go above traffic. It's no longer sustainable to add cars to the road," the CEO said.
The company has already successfully established a working demonstration system in Israel and plans to commercialize it in about two years.
"We've completed what we call our demonstration system, so we have a full scale system that shows all components working together very well, that leads us to the phase 2 where we run it all the time and collect data while we're planning our commercial system for Abu Dhabi," Sanders said.
He added that the company also aims to bring the magnetic levitation train system to Europe and begin construction there by the end of this year or the start of next year.
