After a tour at the Beijing Normal University, President Xi Jinping encouraged agencies and local governments in the country to "make teaching the most respected job in China," a Xinhua News agency report said.
During the eve of Teachers' Day in China when he visited teaching sessions, the Chinese President called on educators to have sound ethics, great teaching capabilities and high energy levels, setting the standards for education on a higher level.

This way, the prosperity of the nation through improvement of education will be most probable as teachers are urged to dedicate themselves to modernization.
During a meeting with teachers from rural areas, he cited that the West needs more work and needs to develop education for 'China will be strong if the youth is strong.'
"The importance of teachers lies in shaping souls, forging lives and crafting humans... To become a good teacher, one must have lofty ideals, solid knowledge and a kind heart," said Xi explaining that good teachers are the nation's hope for a bright future.
He also advised all agencies and local governments to prioritize education and pursue reform to provide better learning for China's youth.
Vowing to take better care of China's teachers, Xi called on the Communist Party of China's committees to provide better pay, protect their rights and focus on teachers' professionalism to ensure that teaching becomes the 'most respected job in China.'
"Today's students are the major driving force that will realize our great Chinese dream: the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Teachers are dream builders, undertaking their mission to forge a 'dream team'," he added.
He also cautioned teachers who misbehave; stressing that those caught in violation of the law will be punished accordingly, adding that the government under his leadership does not tolerate teachers who harm their students.
