Newly-promoted side Yanbian Funde extended their winning streak to four games with a 2-1 victory over hard-luck squad Shandong Luneng at the Yanji Nationwide Fitness Centre Stadium last Saturday in the 20th round of the 2016 Chinese Super League season.

It was Yanbian's fourth consecutive win and the team's sixth unbeaten performance in their last seven games as head coach Park Tae-ha's side climbed to the eighth spot of the current league table.

Midfielder Chi Zhongguo opened the scoring near the end of the first half as he directed a brilliant pass from South Korean import Kim Seung-dae towards Shandong goalkeeper Wang Dalei's net, Xinhuanet reported.

The hosts' one-point advantage held on until the halftime break, but Taishan Dui midfielder Liu Binbin managed to find the equalizer at the 61st off an assist by teammate Hao Junmin.

Another South Korean international, midfielder Yoon Bit-garam, then scored the winning goal eight minutes later with a remarkable individual move against Wang before Yanbian held their opponents for the rest of the match, as per Soccerway.

It was another masterful effort for last season's China League One champions, following up on their impressive 3-1 win over another streaking squad, Guangzhou R&F, also at home during the previous matchday.

It was the second straight loss for head coach Felix Magath's team and the third winless effort in four games since former Southampton striker Graziano Pellè joined the club earlier this month. The Italy national team forward seemed to be having a hard time adjusting to the pace of the China top flight as he only scored a single goal in his first four matches in the country's first division competitions.

With the loss, Shandong remained at the 14th spot of the 16-team table, only a point above the bottom two relegation zone currently occupied by Shijiazhuang Ever Bright and Changchun Yatai.

Shandong had been struggling this season with only five wins to boot in 21 tries. They finished the CSL at third place last season and were able to qualify in the AFC Champions League.
