Britain's supermarket giant Sainsbury's said on Monday that it would widen the presence of its products on Alibaba's international e-commerce website Tmall, Reuters reported.
The decision to expand comes after Sainsbury's trail period on Tmall since September last year. The expansion would pave a way for Sainsbury's 100 branded products in the breakfast, drinks, organic and many more categories. The company plans to add more product to its range later this year.

As a result of this expansion, Sainsbury's will be the only major foreign retailer that will be highlighting its products on Tmall's "super brand day" promotion on 8 August, one of China's biggest online sales festival.
"Chinese online shoppers are increasingly demanding high-quality international products," Chief Financial Officer John Rogers said in a statement. "Products to make a British breakfast and English afternoon tea have therefore proved hits."
Rogers added that many local Chinese travelers want to replicate tastes and occasions that they have enjoyed or experienced through international travel. Speaking about the trial period, Rogers said that it helped the company to learn about China's burgeoning online market and also the importance of sales event such as Singles Day.
According to Royal Mail, China is the largest consumer of British online products, accounting for nearly a 25 percent market share. Experts say that strong online presence means with bare minimum investment international brands can reach China's growing middle-class population.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury's is expected to complete the acquisition of Argos-owner Home Retail next month. The acquisition will reduce the company's reliance on the sale of food and drink to earn revenue.
