Recent reports have emerged that newly-promoted English Premier League squad Hull City AFC is being targeted by a group of investors from China and Hong Kong and a sale could be imminent.

The Hull Daily Mail reported that "a Chinese takeover of Hull City could be back on" this summer as "a consortium of investors from China and Hong Kong are interested in buying the club".

The report noted that the Chinese group is composed of "representatives of the Dai family, which has business interests in real estate and shopping malls".

Hull City's sale has been a constant subject of speculations all summer long until an official statement from the club was released on July 20 verifying that the deal is "put on hold" until after this year's summer transfer window has closed in order to "ensure stability" at the recently promoted side.

The Tigers had reportedly conducted a chain of meetings with the said Chinese consortium since the team finished fourth place in the Football League Championship last term. The team won the playoffs to gain a qualifying berth in the English top flight this coming season.

The statement said that "the Allam family would continue discussing a sale to interested parties in September".

SkySports was the first one to report such developments, saying that the Tigers "could become the second Premier League club under Chinese ownership" after Manchester City as the said Far East company has already held "advanced talks" with the club prior to the hold up, but an official agreement has yet to be reached at the moment.

Meanwhile, Wales national team head coach Chris Coleman is being approached by Hull City to become their new manager in the 2016-2017 Premier League season when it opens this week.

The Tigers are still without a permanent manager just days before they begin their English top flight campaign on Saturday against reigning champions Leicester City.

Should Coleman accept the offer, he will replace former boss Steve Bruce who resigned just last month.
