Basketball News: Venezuela Tops China to Notch First Olympic Games Triumph at Rio 2016

The Chinese men's national basketball squad suffered their third-straight defeat following their loss to Venezuela 72-68 at the ongoing Olympic Basketball Tournament in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Wednesday.
According to NBC Sports, veteran forward Nestor Colmenares led the Chinese team with a team-high 16 points, five rebounds and four assists to their first Olympic game victory in Rio.

Coming off the bench, the 28-year-old native of Caracas went 8 for 11 from the field and hit the basket with 15.8 seconds left to play in the final period before the match turned into a free throw shooting contest.
National point guard Gregory Vargas contributed 13 markers, five assists, and three boards for Venezuela.
Venezuela will have more confidence going into their last two games in their group phase against France on Friday and Australia on Sunday.
China, which was placed in Group A with Serbia, Australia, France, Venezuela, and the USA, remains the only team in the bracket without a win. The Chinese squad was beaten by the Americans with a 57-point margin in the opening match and bowed to the French team in an 88-60 loss.
China will be facing the impressive Australian team and Serbia to close out their group play.
Former NBA player and four-time Chinese Basketball Association Domestic MVP Yi Jianlian finished the game with 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Asian powerhouse, which has now lost 10 straight-Olympic matches dating back to 2008.
