The journey of the Chinese women's national football team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games has come to an end after the Steel Roses bowed to Germany on Friday.
Germany defeated China 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the Women's Olympic Football tournament after the 30-year-old midfielder Melanie Behringer scored the solitary goal of the game in the 76th minute.

According to The Equalizer, China played most of the second half with 10 players after 26-year-old forward Wang Shanshan was issued her second yellow card in the 57th minute.
China was given a lifeline five minutes from time when Wang Shuang was fouled in the box. She was awarded a penalty kick but failed to score.
The Germans dominated the first half of the game with 23-year-old defender Leonie Maier's header forcing a smart early save from Chinese goalkeeper Zhao Lina. Dzsenifer Marozsan shot from the edge of the area also missed narrowly in the 11 minute.
As the Chinese women struggled to get out of their half, the Germans threatened to take the lead shortly after the half-hour mark when captain Saskia Bartusiak looped an effort over Zhao's bar after China had failed to clear Marozsan's cross.
Resolute defending from Wu Haiyan then denied Alexandra Popp a sight on goal as the striker threatened to bust through on goal with the first period coming to a close.
Germany, two-time winners of the FIFA Women's World Cup, will advance to play Canada in the semifinal round on Wednesday.
