The Shanghai Disney Resort has welcomed more than one million visitors since its much-anticipated opening on June 16. Walt Disney has described the number of visitors as highly encouraging, China Daily reported.
"We've welcomed well over a million guests since we officially opened the gates on June 16 and their reaction has been everything we'd hoped for and more," said Robert Iger, chairman and chief executive officer of Walt Disney Company.

Iger claims that ticket sales of Shanghai Disney Resort continue to be strong, and hotel occupancy stands at 95 percent, adding that it is too early to set the projection, but the start has been very impressive.
The chairman said that Disney had started expansion work well before the opening day, with the company planning to add hotel rooms and attraction in coming months.
The ticket prices on a regular day have been fixed at 370 Yuan ($57), while ticket prices soar to 499 Yuan ($75) on weekends and holidays. The resort was built at a whopping cost of 34 billion Yuan ($5.2 billion).
Unprecedented hype and public anticipation had preceded the official opening of the resort on June 16. Experts predicted that prices of flight tickets to Shanghai would skyrocket after the inauguration, while real estate prices around the resort have already picked up.
Shanghai Disney Resort's closest competitor is Nanchang Wanda Park, operated by Wanda group owned by billionaire Wang Jianlin. Although Nanchang Wanda Park is located about 600 kms away from Disney, the Wanda Park is just as big and sophisticated as Disney Resort.
Wang said ahead of the opening of the Shanghai Disney Resort that the park is no match for the Wanda Park. The Chinese billionaire revealed that Wanda Group plans to construct 15-20 parks across China in the coming years.
