Olympic Table Tennis: China Reaches the Semifinal Round, Tops Great Britain 3-0

China ousted Great Britain with an outstanding 3-0 victory in their quarterfinals team match in the ongoing table tennis tournament at the 2016 Rio Games on Sunday.
China's current men's singles world No. 1 Ma Long, trailed in the opening game with 23-year-old Briton Liam Pitchford. However, the latest Grand Slam victor bounced back in the second game with an 11-4 win after dropping the first set 11-6.

According to Xinhua, the 5-time Asian Games gold medalist again faltered in the following two games but managed to overcome a two-point deficit of 9-7 twice to wrap up the set 11-9, 11-9.
Xu Xin won a thrilling showdown against the 26-year-old Paul Drinkhall. The Chinese paddler registered a come from behind 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-7 victory.
Xu, who also played in the men's doubles event along with the 2016 Summer Olympic Games silver medalist Zhang Jike, outlasted the British combination of Samuel Walker and Drinkhall with an 11-4, 11-7, 11-13, 11-4 to complete the 3-0 sweep and progress to the semifinal round.
"Such a tough game!" said the 26-year-old Xu Xin after the match. "But we had been prepared to meet even fiercer resistance."
"I think Britain are among the top three European teams and every player is strong, not like other frontrunners having just one or two elite players," he added.
Prior to their quarterfinal clash with the powerhouse China, the Great Britain's trio battled past France in Friday's opening round in full sets and full games.
China will next play South Korea.
