Huawei will launch its Honor 8 in the American market, which is cheaper compared to the Huawei 9.

The Chinese company's sub brand “Honor” was launched in the U.S. in the beginning of the year. Huawei is also releasing its second US-bound phone, the Honor 8, as part of a growing effort to get a foothold in the American smartphone market. China's top smartphone maker believes the Honor 8 will be a hit in the U.S. as the device is designed to cater to millennial's mobile phone habits – from watching sports and movies to listening to music, and sharing photos with friends, CNN Money reported.

“We also consider culture and fashion trends,” said George Zhao, Huawei Honor's president.

Huawei created the Honor 8 with a premium design thanks to its glass-backed design. The company said that it used 15 different steps in the manufacturing process for the glass back, resulting in a seriously shiny and reflective back panel. The Honor 8 will be available in three colors: black, white, and blue.

The Honor 8 will run on the Android Marshmallow with Huawei Emotion UI, the company's customized version of the Android base operating system. It bears an eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 SoC and 4GB of RAM with 32 or 64GB of internal storage that is expandable via microSD slot.

It features a 5.2-inch full HD display with 1920x1080pixel resolution. The device has a USB type-C port for fast charging, NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 3,000 mAh battery. It has a super-fast fingerprint sensor located at the back which is also a clickable button. The fingerprint sensor click works as a “smart key,” which can open an app or launching the camera.

The Honor 8 has 12 MP dual-lens cameras, one of which captures images in RGB color while the other captures images in monochrome. The two are processed simultaneously to create one photo, a supposedly better photo with more detail.

In addition, the mobile phone’s camera software also allows users to edit the focus of a photo after it has been taken. Huawei also make it easier to launch the camera app and take photo by using the volume button or fingerprint sensor, even if the phone is locked. This new feature is designed to help its users quickly share photos on social media.

The 32GB model costs $400 and the 64GB version sells at $450.

Pre-orders for an unlocked Honor 8 run from August 17 through September 3 at Amazon, Best Buy, B&H Photo Video, Newegg, and Huawei e-commerce store. Best Buy has an exclusive on the blue version of the device, according to CNet.
