"Saturday Night Live" will be celebrating its new season as well as its 40th year on air on September 27. The first show of the new season will be hosted by "Guardians of the Galaxy" star, Chris Pratt.

Along with Pratt, who first became a household name in "Parks and Recreation", Ariana Grande will be performing in the first show.

This will be the first time Pratt and Grande will appear on the SNL stage.

Aside from Pratt, the new season promises an exciting lineup of talented hosts, performers and musical guests.

Pratt will predictably have a blast doing the show, since comedy is definitely the millieu in which he thrives and a live studio audience laughing just makes performing even better.

He once shared, "With comedy, it's a combination of knowing the comedic beat was good - it made you laugh, it made people on the crew laugh. With drama, you do something deep and if your stuff was really effective, the ultimate result is silence. Silence is not necessarily... that would also be the result if you sucked."

Scheduled for the second show is comedian Sarah Silverman, who was briefly part of SNL from 1993-1994. The musical guest for the said show airing on October 4 will be Maroon 5. The said appearance will be Adam Levine and company's fifth appearance on the long-running comedy series.

Silverman recently won an Emmy for her HBO special, "We Are Miracles."

Both NBC and SNL have yet to confirm the host of the third episode, but rumor has it that they want the iconic Bill Murray to join the lineup of this season's hosts.

Aside from the new lineup, other changes are yet to be announced, including a voice replacement for Don Pardo who passed away last month. Pardo was the show's announcer for all but one of SNL's seasons.

NBC will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of "Saturday Night Live" with a three-hour special scheduled for February 15 next year.
