Abracadabra! Facebook Tests App that Automatically Delete Your Posts

Now you see me, now you don't!

Facebook is experimenting with a feature that could soon allow users to self-delete or self-destruct their posts after a specified period of time.

If this reminds you of Snapchat, well, you're right. The feature also looks kind of like Facebook's Poke app, which it shut down early this year.

Facebook's self-destruct timeframe, however, spans an hour to seven days after you post your status. Screenshots of the new feature has been up in Twitter since the feature was announced.

The feature, however, is still being pilot tested and is only available to certain users, said NextWeb and Mashable. If it's successful, more users can use it.

Facebook has also set up a Help Page to explain about disappearing posts entitled "How do I post something and set it to expire?"

Facebook did say, however, that the feature won't be a default setting since not everyone likes to have their posts deleted. After all, Facebook is like a person's diary and Facebook doesn't want to take that away from their users.

Facebook didn't mention if the deleted posts will remain on their servera but it's clear the company wants to be on the same train as Snapchat. Self-destructing messages or photos is one of the features users love in Snapchat.

This isn't the first time Facebook's come out with an app that has a self-expiring feature. In June, Facebook launched an app called "Slingshot" that didn't catch on.
