According to Xinhua, the 21-year-old 6-foot-6-inch tall Chinese spiker inked a deal with the 2013 FIVB Women's Club World Championship winners Vakifbank Istanbul in April. The deal was reportedly proposed by 2002 Volleyball Hall of Famer Lang Ping, the head coach of the Chinese women's volleyball squad.

China won the gold medal in Rio de Janeiro after defeating Serbia in the championship round on August 20 to recapture the Olympic title. China is also now the No. 1 in the latest FIVB world rankings.

Zhu, who was named the Most Valuable Player after the final, finished as the top scorer of the competition with a total of 179 points including a tournament-high 33 in the semifinals against the Netherlands. She capped her Rio performance with 25 points as the main Chinese player in the final, according to China Development Gateway.

"Despite winning gold in Rio, I think I have a lot of things to improve, that's why I go to Turkey," Zhu said.

Zhu is a multi-awarded volleyball player. She has been the top player in many tournaments that she has participated with. Zhu was the Most Valuable Player winner at the Asian and World Junior Championship in 2012 and 2013 respectively. In 2015, Zhu also scooped the MVP honor at the Asian Championship and FIVB World Cup.
