Chinese hockey team Kunlun Red Star had an impressive debut home game in Beijing after they thrashed Russia's Admiral Vladivostok with a 6-3 victory on Monday in the ongoing 2016-17 regular season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
According to China Daily, the victory comes just four days after the Red Star's first triumph in the 60-game regular season of the international professional ice hockey league. Kunlun, which is the first Chinese side to join the KHL this season, defeated Russia's HC Amur in the city of Khabarovsk on September 1.

The Red Star remains unbeaten after two games, enjoying a good start with a remarkable 2-0 win-loss record while securing a total of six points. The Chinese team is just nine points behind the current Eastern Conference table leader Avangard Omsk, who have already played six matches.
Led by seasoned coach Vladimir Yurzinov Jr. of Russia, the Beijing professional ice hockey team is composed of seven players from Finland, with the other players from China, Russia, Canada, Sweden, France and the United States.
"It is our players' great hope to perform well at home and take it as a good opportunity to appreciate our Chinese fans," Yurzinov Jr. said. "This is the very first time a professional ice hockey game was played here in China, and we really hope more fans join us in the future."
In June, the Kunlun Red Star was officially accepted by the KHL to participate in the league's 2016-17 season.
Kunlun's entry increased the KHL membership to 29 clubs. The Russian-based ice hockey league is currently second to the 30-team National Hockey League (NHL) in the North America.
