Former Guangzhou Evergrande manager Marcello Lippi recently disclosed that he was offered a head coaching job by Serie A side AC Milan but he is considering a move back to the Chinese Super League instead.
ESPN reported that the 68-year-old former Italy national team head coach claimed that "he was on the brink of becoming AC Milan coach in January" to replace then struggling coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, but a series of good performances by I Rossoneri kept him in the squad.

Mihajlovic was eventually sacked last April and moved on to coach Torino FC this season.
"The contact was at such a stage that I had already gathered all of the staff I work with at my home and told them to get ready," said Lippi with regards to the offer Milan gave him. "Then Milan beat Fiorentina 2-0 in their first game back after the winter break and went on a run of good results, and it all went up in smoke."
Lippi stayed in Italy and said that he still has a chance to coach Milan, but he was then offered a job as technical director of the Italian Football Association (FIGC) while Christian Brocchi and current Red-and-Blacks manager Vincenzo Montella was hired in tandem by the club during those times.
Eventually, the deal with the FIGC did not work out and he was left as still a free agent manager at the moment.
"They've tried to bring me to Milan three or four times before," Lippi said. "But I always said no. I had given them my availability this time, though."
He then admitted that he was now considering a move back to China with his former Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande, as per Football Italia.
"Yes, it's true - I am thinking about going back (to China)," he said. "Up to a few weeks ago, things looked different with the pre-contractual agreement I had with the FIGC, and you all know how that ended. I had a good time in China - it was an exciting challenge."
