A new smartphone from tech company Asus has appeared on the website of China's telecommunications equipment certification authority (TENAA).
The new version of the Asus Zenfone 3 sports a smaller 5.5-inch display. The phone is rumored to feature a Full HD display resolution. There are speculations that the device would be powered by a Snapdragon 625 chipset from Qualcomm with 4GB of memory, according to Giz China.

Many tech analysts have expressed surprised over Asus' choice of the less powerful Snapdragon 625 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 820. The decision to pick the Snapdragon 625 could mean that the Asus Zenfone 3 would be priced significantly lesser compared to devices with the Snapdragon 820.
Despite the fact that the new Zenfone 3 is smaller in size, the smartphone is expected to share the same features with its bigger counterpart. Since the new model is a smaller one, it would consume less power. This is perhaps why Asus equipped it with a smaller 2900mAh battery pack. Asus may have also devised a new power saving technology or added a fast charging feature to the phone.
The new Asus Zenfone 3 is expected to come in two storage variants (32GB and 64GB) with microSD support for expansion. The phone is expected to have a Sony MIX298 camera sensor with a 16-megapixel rear facing shooter and an 8-megapixel front facing selfie shooter. The phone is also expected to support USB Type-C.
