China Downs Philippines to Remain Unbeaten in 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge

The Chinese men's national basketball team stretched their impressive winning-run after successfully registering their third-straight victory at the expense of the young Philippines team at the ongoing 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge in Tehran, Iran on Monday.

The Chinese team kept their record unblemished with the 75-65 victory over the Gilas Pilipinas at the Azadi Basketball Hall.

The Chinese team won Jordan 94-76 in their opener and secured a rousing 106-85 victory over Kazakhstan to top the preliminary round of Group A unbeaten.

Hu Jinqiu continued to showcase his basketball skills as he led the Chinese squad with a brilliant performance. The 18-year-old poured in game-high 21 points, pulled down seven rebounds, and dished out an assist in 30 minutes of playing.

China's team captain Fang Shuo contributed 10 points while big man Zou Yuchen chipped in nine markers and game-high 13 boards.

Small forward Rey Mark Belo led the Filipinos with 16 points and shooting guard Roger Ray Pogoy had 11, according to The Manila Times.

The Chinese men registered an 80.6 percent shooting from the foul line making 25 of the 31 awarded free shots while the Philippines just made nine of 15 from the stripe for a 60 percent free-throw shooting.

China also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Filipino team with an imposing 47-35 advantage while controlling both defensive and offensive rebounding during the game.

India would be the opponent of the Chinese side on Tuesday. The Indian team recently lost to Jordan 121-65.
