Brazilian import Leonardo scored a brace to lead Dak Gong as he opened the scoring at the 52nd minute following a goalless tie after the first 45 minutes of play, as per the South China Morning Post.
An own goal from SIPG defender Shi Ke doubled the Korean lead six minutes later as he inadvertently nudged the ball towards goalkeeper Yan Junling's net with Leonardo inside the 6-yard box.
Head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson's side "put themselves into more trouble" as attacking midfielder Lu Wenjun was sent off at the 75th minute after he put his studs toward the face of defender Kim Hyung-il near the Green Warriors' net, via Yonhap News.
With the visitors on a one-man disadvantage, manager Choi Kang-hee's squad did not waste time adding to their 2-0 lead.
Leonardo netted his second goal of the contest with a penalty kick at the 83rd minute to make it a 3-0 count for the hosts.
The final two goals were scored by team captain Lee Dong-gook at the 84th and 89th minutes to complete the five-goal demolition of the Red Eagles, who featured Chinese record signing Hulk during the match.
The Brazilian winger and Korean defender Kim Ju-young were Eriksson's only imports during the match as Ivorian forward Jean Evrard Kouassi is sidelined by injury, Brazilian striker Elkeson was suspended, and Argentine midfielder is also out of the season with a knee injury.
The win moved Jeonbuk to the semifinals of Asia's premier club continental competitions and are now waiting for the winners of the other East Zone quarterfinals encounter between South Korea's FC Seoul and China's Shandong Luneng.
