After months of speculations and rumors, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has officially announced the specs of its Mi 5S model, along with a handful of photos to go with it.

As previously rumored, the upcoming device will become the company's first smartphone to sport the highly-anticipated Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit. It also addressed some shortcomings of its predecessor, as well as added a handful of new techs.

According to Giz China, the Mi 5S sports a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution. It is available in two models depending on the memory and storage space configuration. One model has 3GB of memory and 64GB of storage space, while the other one has 4GB of memory and 128GB of storage space. Both of them support storage expansion.

The Xiaomi Mi 5S has a 12-megapxiel Sony IMX378 rear camera which can record 4K videos at 30 frames per second, and a 4-megapxiel front selfie snapper.

The released Xiaomi Mi 5S specs likewise disclosed that it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Xiaomi's own MIUI custom skin on top. Although Xiaomi has yet to confirm it, certain rumors claimed that the company is working to make the upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat available for the Mi 5S.

One of the most interesting new features of the Xiaomi Mi 5S is its ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. This means that Xiaomi's new flagship smartphone can provide a more accurate fingerprint reading compared to conventional fingerprint scanners.
