Badminton News: Chinese Players Rule in Day 2 of the 2016 Korea Open

China's professional badminton players came out victorious on the second day of the ongoing 25th edition of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Victor Korea Open at the Seong-Nam Indoor Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday.

Chinese badminton players continued to dominate the game even without the current world No. 2 Chen Long and two-time Olympic champion and five-time world championships winner Lin Dan.

In the men's singles draw, fourth-seed Tian Houwei disposed of Kashyap Parupalli of India with a 20-22, 21-10,21-13 come-from-behind victory. The 24-year-old native of Fuzhou, Fujian, who currently holds the no. 6 spot in the latest BWF world rankings, wrapped up the win in just 53 minutes.

This was the second match that the Chinese badminton ace prevailed over the 107th ranked Indian player in their three official meetings.

Meanwhile, Huang Yuxiang scored a two-straight set 21-11, 21-10 victory against home crowd favorite Dong Keun Lee of the South Korea in a game that only lasted for 36 minutes. The 23-year-old Chinese badminton player is currently ranked No. 34 in the world, while the 25-year-old Korean is ranked No. 16

In the women's singles event, He Bingjiao continued her winning form after successfully advancing to the next round of the tournament with an outstanding 21-12, 21-13 triumph over Linda Zetchiri of Bulgaria. The newly-crowned Yonex Japan Open champion needed just 31 minutes to secure the victory and book a second round matchup against Minatsu Mitani of Japan on Thursday.

World No. 45 Chen Yufei also advanced past the opening round after beating Chia Hsin Lee of Chinese Taipei 21-19, 21-16. The 18-year-old Chinese player will be facing the current world No. 4 Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the second round.
