Badminton News: Qiao Bin of China Claims BWF Victor Korea Open Title

China's rising badminton star Qiao Bin successfully claimed the 2016 BWF Victor Korea Open title after beating the home crowd favorite Son Wan-Ho of South Korea  with a 21-11, 21-23, 21-7 victory on Sunday at the Seong-Nam Indoor Stadium in Gyeonggi-Do.

"I'm so thrilled. I have no words to express my feelings," the 23-year-old Qiao said after beating the event's sixth seeded player in the final round of the competition.

"I have learned my game by watching many of my seniors. First of all, I should mention Lin Dan and Chen Long as my models," the Chinese winner added referring to his country's highly-decorated men's singles shuttlers.

According to Fox Sports, Qiao wrapped up the match in one hour and 25 minutes to clinch his maiden Super Series title.

The 2016 Chinese Taipei Open runner-up has leveled his head-to-head matchups against the Korean badminton ace to one victory apiece and secured 63 ranking points of the 104 ranking points played in the men's finals.

Meanwhile, in the other matches of the day basing from the official website of the BWF, Akane Yamaguchi of Japan captured the title for the women's singles event after getting the better of Sung Ji Hyun of South Korea.

The world No.1 combination of Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong of South Korea defeated the Chinese duo of Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen to bag the tournament's men's doubles crown.

China's world No. 7 pair of Luo Ying and Luo Yu surrendered to the South Korean tandem of Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan in championship stage of the women's doubles event, while Ko Sung Hyun and Kim Ha Na also won the mixed doubles to complete South Korean's dominance in the doubles event.
