In the event held at Dar es Salaam, the economic centre of Tanzania, Mr Kassim Majaliwa shared how Huawei has been instrumental in carrying out various reforms, especially in helping Tanzania's ICT expansion.
The government leader praised the Chinese company for extending support in developing the ICT skills of the Tanzanians. He even committed that "the government will work closely with the private sector towards ICT development."
Administrator d'affaires at the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania, Gou Haodong, who was also present at the ceremony, said, "We believe that Huawei, as a global ICT leader, will leverage its advanced technologies and global resources to promote the ICT industry in Tanzania."
Gou also relayed his optimism about sustaining the bond between the two countries.
"China and Tanzania help and support each other through thick and thin," Gou continued. "The support to the education sector, shown by Huawei today, proved it again."
Huawei also donated $30,000 to rebuild the school buildings destroyed during the powerful quake which hit the Kagera district of Tanzania.
Huawei previously launched its initiative 'Seeds for Future' in Tanzania, which set up procedures to ensure that 100 students from Tanzania are engaged in the 10-year scheme. They are not only provided with a chance to reach the Chinese metropolis, Beijing, but also serve in the organisation's head office in Shenzhen.
In 2016, 10 learners from Tanzania have availed the opportunity and a couple of them have been hired by Huawei.
