Xiaomi has finally opened its first store outside Greater China.

Xiaomi has opened its Mi Home store in Singapore, the very first outside China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, CNET reported. Located at the Suntec City, Xiaomi will be offering its flagship phones and accessories.

However, the Singapore branch will not be displaying other Mi ecosystem items like the Mi TV and Mi Rice Cooker. But it promised to bring in more lineup in time.

For now, available items include the Mi Max, Mi 5, Redmi 3S, Redmi Note 3, Mi Band 2, and accessories like portable speakers and power banks.

The newly opened retail outlet will help Xiaomi set a foothold across the island nation. Furthermore, it also implicates Xiaomi's move to cover as many ground outside China as possible.

But unlike its stores in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, the Mi Home store in Singapore is being managed by a local partner. Furthermore, it has also teamed up with regional online retailer Lazada to promote and manage online sales, according to The Tech Portal.

These moves to free itself of retail responsibilities in Singapore could mean a shift in Xiaomi's current strategy. CNET pointed the possibility that Xiaomi will shift its focus on China to make up for ground lost to local rivals like Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo.

Meanwhile, as Xiaomi continues to establish its namesake in India, it is possible for Xiaomi to adopt the same retail strategy from Singapore to other Southeast Asian nations as Xiaomi focus on India, China, and a possible launch in the United States next year.
