Philadelphia 76ers' Jerryd Bayless could miss the team's season-opener later this month as the point guard is still nursing an injured wrist.

Bayless, who turned 28 in August, was signed by the Sixers to a three-year, $27 million deal in the summer to become the team's starting point guard. The eight-year veteran is seen as the master floor general that could bring out the best in the young Philly frontcourt of Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor, Dario Saric, and Joel Embiid.

However, head coach Brett Brown's plan of fielding in his dream starting lineup will reportedly be delayed by a few days, or even weeks, into the regular season as Bayless is currently in the team's injured list with "left wrist soreness," according to ESPN.

"It's not the best right now," said Bayless, via the Philadelphia Inquirer.

When asked whether he could miss a few games to begin the upcoming regular season because of the injury, he had this to say, "Yeah, I might."

The former Milwaukee Bucks backup point guard was subjected to an MRI last week and the results were said to be "unfavorable" as a problem was discovered.

Bayless admitted that he does not know "what was wrong" with his wrist, but that he definitely cannot play with it in full-contact basketball activities at the moment.

Bayless has not played in the team's first three preseason games due to the injury. Coach Brown then opted to temporarily start 24-year-old undrafted sophomore TJ McConnell as the team's starting point guard with Spanish veteran Sergio Rodriguez as backup.

McConnell seemed to be taking advantage of this opportunity as he performed well in their first two games, scoring 13 points against Boston and 12 versus Washington.

He also added four rebounds and four assists in the win over the Celtics on Oct. 4, while producing seven assists and one rebound in their loss to Wizards two days later.

During the Sixers' third game, a 108-105 defeat in the hands of reigning NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers, McConnell only scored five points, with three assists and six rebounds.
