Memory is one of the vital resources that allow software to be efficient and fast. However, as websites and applications get more complex, they use up more memory. While newer smartphone models are getting more memory on their configuration, websites and applications are also more demanding as programmers are adding newer features into them.

Google said that its Chrome team is working on V8, the part of the browser which runs JavaScript programs. Google claims that with the upcoming update, websites like Twitter, Reddit, and Imgur will have "significantly reduced the memory footprint."

Google added that the memory fix would be incorporated into the Chrome 55 update which is due to be released on Dec. 6. Those who want to test the update can run the pre-release code which has been provided by Google, according to Engadget.

Google claims that the update will lead to a drastic drop of about 50 percent in terms of memory heap. Zone memory is also expected to drop by about 40 percent.

Google also said that it is optimizing the update and will focus its work on entry-level devices with less than a gigabyte of memory to spare.
